Tattoo (1/1)

Again I strayed from the prompt quite a bit (Sorry about that!).

“Aurora, are you almost ready?” Mulan called as she rapped firmly on the bathroom door. “We’re going to be late.”

“I’m coming!” Aurora called distractedly. A couple of seconds later she opened the door and walked out of the bathroom. Mulan’s jaw dropped at the sight of her girlfriend and Aurora pulled at the bottom of her dress self-consciously. “How do I look?”

“You look…you look great.” Mulan said, her eyes slowly taking in every inch of the figure hugging red dress.

“You’re sure it’s not too short?” Aurora asked nervously as she tried to tug the hem of the dress further down. She’d burrowed it from Emma so it wasn’t really her style.

“No!” Mulan’s eyes snapped back to Aurora’s face just as the Princess looked up at her. “It’s perfect. You look perfect.”

“Thank you.” Aurora smiled bashfully.

“So are you ready to go?” Mulan asked uncomfortably. She still wasn’t all that used to being able to express her feelings towards Aurora, especially those of a sexual nature so she frequently just backed off when confronted with them.

“I think so.” Aurora answered, slightly disappointed but not at all surprised by Mulan’s changing of the subject.

Mulan nodded and turned around, intending to walk to the door. They were fifteen minutes late after all. She was stopped in her progress by Aurora speaking up in surprise.

“What’s that?”

“What is what?” Mulan asked, glancing over her shoulder at Aurora.

“That.” Aurora walked over to Mulan and gently tugged her shoulder less shirt down to reveal the top of her right shoulder blade. She traced her finger lightly over the small image of the dragon.

“It’s a tattoo.” Mulan answered faintly, allowing herself a moment to bask in the sensation of Aurora’s fingertips wandering over her back. “I got it to remind me of something.”

“Of a dragon?” Aurora asked apprehensively, her thoughts clearly going to Maleficent and what she’d done to her.

“Don’t worry Princess.” Mulan turned around and pressed a reassuring kiss to Aurora’s lips. “Mushu wouldn’t have hurt you.”

“Mushu?” Aurora echoed curiously.

“I’ll explain on the way to dinner.” Mulan said, sliding her hand down Aurora’s arm to grip her hand. “We’re already late.”

Aurora opened her mouth to protest but she quickly found herself being tugged towards the door of Mulan’s room.

Mulan gritted her teeth, struggling to concentrate on the food in front of her while Aurora traced the tattoo on her back with curious fingers.

“So Mulan,” James spoke up from across the table. “Emma mentioned that you’ve applied for a job at the station?”

“I did.” Mulan answered with a distracted nod. She reached under the table and gave Aurora’s knee a light squeeze, silently telling her to stop what she was doing. Aurora paid no attention. “She interviewed me a couple of day ago. I think the interview went well.”

“You’re too modest.” Aurora admonished with a soft smile. “Emma told me that your interview couldn’t have gone better.”

Mulan ducked her head, trying to hide the blush that covered her cheek as Aurora’s hand continued to wander.

“What about you Aurora?” Snow asked, over her glass of wine. “Are you going to take Ruby up on her offer to work at the diner?”

“I’m thinking about it.” Aurora answered smoothly. “Belle actually just asked me if I want to work with her at the library so I’m weighing up my options. I don’t want to say no to either of them, it’s so kind of them to offer.”

“I’m sure they won’t mind if you say no.” James said, casting a glance at Snow. “Snow?”

“I can’t speak for Belle but Red won’t be offended.” Snow agreed with her husband.

“I think I might take Belle up on her offer.” Aurora said thoughtfully. “Ruby’s job seems tough.”

“It is.” Snow agreed, frowning at the thought of everything her friend had to put up with; long hours, hard work and occasionally downright rude customers for a minimum salary.

Mulan moved to take a drink of her wine and Aurora chose that moment to rake her nails gently over her girlfriends’ shoulder blade. Startled, Mulan choked on her wine and Aurora’s light scratching promptly turned to hasty patting.

“Are you okay?” Snow asked in alarm as Mulan was wracked with coughs. She glanced at James with an ‘I told you so’ expression. “I told you we shouldn’t have let Emma choose the wine.”

“I’m fine.” Mulan said through coughs, her eyes watering slightly. She set her drink down on the table and scraped her chair back. “I’m sorry, do you mind if I get a drink of water?” she motioned behind her, towards the hallway.

“Of course, go ahead.” James nodded.

“Thank you.” Mulan shot him a weary smile before standing up from the table.

“Is she okay?” Snow asked Aurora when Mulan disappeared into the hallway. “She seemed very distracted.”

“She hasn’t been feeling well.” Aurora lied. She glanced in the direction Mulan had gone before looking back to Snow and James. “I should make sure she’s okay.”

“Of course,” Snow smiled permissively.

“We’ll be right back.” Aurora said, standing up from her chair. Without waiting for an answer she walked out of the room and down the hallway after Mulan. She found her in the kitchen, her hands braced against the sink.

“Are you okay?”

Mulan turned around and Aurora winced at her angry expression. “What was that?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Aurora said innocently as she walked closer.

“You didn’t take your hands off me once throughout dinner!” Mulan whisper yelled.

“I didn’t realise that was a problem.” Aurora frowned.

“You know why it’s a problem!” Mulan exclaimed, trying to keep her voice as low as possible despite her frustration. “You knew exactly what you were doing to me out there.”

“I don’t know what…”Aurora began to protest her innocent but her words were quickly cut off when Mulan stepped forward, gripped her waist and kissed her firmly. Aurora released a surprised squeak at the sudden action but she didn’t hesitate to return the kiss, her eyes fluttering shut. There was something different to this kiss than the others they’d shared. Their past kisses had been soft and hesitant and Mulan had clearly been holding back but the one they were currently sharing was nothing but rough, desperate passion and Aurora found herself quickly losing her breath. She barely noticed when her back hit the fridge with a loud thump, much too focused on keeping up with Mulan’s frenzied kisses. She felt hands skim over her thighs and her breath caught in her throat as her dress was pushed up a couple of inches.

Both Mulan and Aurora froze at the sound of the voice that didn’t belong to either of them. Mulan slowly broke the kiss and turned around to find Snow standing in the doorway. “W-we can explain.”

“I don’t think you need to.” Snow said, blinking at the scene in front of her. “I didn’t know you two were together.”

“We didn’t want anyone to know yet, it’s still new to us.” Mulan explained apologetically. “I’m sorry you had to find out like this.”

Snow nodded slowly, too shocked to respond verbally.

“We should go.” Mulan said, reaching blindly behind her back to grasp Aurora’s hand. “I’m sorry about dinner.”

“You don’t have to go yet.” Snow said quickly, worried that he silence suggested she was angry at them for what had happened. “Stay for dessert. I’m not angry; I’m trying to process this.”

“Thank you for the offer but we really do have to go.” Mulan smiled apologetically.

“Oh!” Snow finally realised what was going on. “Of course, we’ll do this another time then.”

“That would be nice.” Mulan said, tugging Aurora towards the door.

“Aurora?” Snow called before they left the kitchen. They both stopped and Aurora looked back at Snow with a questioning expression.

“Your dress.” Snow prompted, motioning to the bottom of Aurora’s dress while trying to keep her own eyes averted.

“Oh.” Aurora blushed furiously and quickly pulled her dress down to where it should be. “Thank you.”

Snow gave an awkward smile in response. “Goodnight.”

“Goodnight.” Mulan and Aurora responded in unison before they walked out of the room hand in hand.

Snow stood in the kitchen for a couple of minutes, listening to the sound of muffled voices from the hallway. She heard the front door open and shut and a moment later James walked into the kitchen, looking confused.

“Mulan and Aurora left quickly.”

“I think they ditched us off to have sex.” Snow said thoughtfully.

“I’ll explain in a minute.” Snow said, patting her stunned husbands arm. “But first I think I need some more of that wine Emma bought.”
